 “Al Qaeda in high-heels”

Are American men now the most hen-pecked in the world? And are female ‘domestic terrorists’ stalking US homes one of the biggest untold stories in American society?

The authors of a new study of men (and their children), who are the victims of abusive relationships by women, feel the time has come to spring clean some of the secrets that have been swept under too many domestic carpets.

For more than a generation “woman’s liberation” has put women in the ascendancy in the western world – good thing too – their time to come was long overdue. But has female emancipation gone too far and now turned into a new form of tyranny?

Have society and the courts that have given women the benefit of the doubt in assuming they are the “weaker sex” got it wrong?

Mary T Cleary and Roy Sheppard the authors of the new book “Venus: The Dark Side” believe that in the pursuit of female liberation, society risks scuttling the rights and independence of men and their children.

“Venus: The Dark Side” explores how a small minority (but large number) of women choose their male victims to manipulate, deceive and abuse. They will stop at nothing to get what they want, all the while, smiling sweetly. Their abuse is often psychological. Because this is unseen, they often get away with it.

Abuse visited by women on men is wreaking havoc in the lives of millions of innocent Americans. Abusive women, they claim, are misusing the law by making false claims; some of a very serious nature, that often go unchallenged.

The authors are courageous is exposing the fact that despite decades of the demonization of men who are accused of domestic violence, the incidence of domestic abuse of men by women is almost the same as men abusing women.

Mary T. Cleary describes these abusive women as “Al Qaeda in high-heels”’. With just cause:

One innocent man described his experiences at the hands of his violent wife;

“I felt a thump, but I didn’t know my wife had stabbed me in the back until I looked down and saw my shirt soaked in blood, with the tip of the kitchen knife sticking out the front of my chest.”

And before someone shouts “woman haters!” For more than a decade Mary T. Cleary has helped male victims of domestic violence. And before that, as a nurse, she treated men with injuries that could not have been “by accident” as many of them claimed in their misguided attempts to cover up the abuse they suffered.

Part of the problem is the veil of secrecy that men choose to draw over their own suffering or they walk away to then be accused of abandoning their children.

But while men are the victims of unpublicized physical, psychological, financial and even sexual abuse in the home, it is their children who are as likely to be the victims of abuse. A staggering one million children get caught up in American divorces – every year.

Some surprising facts emerge from the book that turns conventional wisdom on its head:

·         56% of all child abuse is perpetrated by the mother.

·         A biological father is statistically the least likely to abuse their children (8%)

·         After divorce, a mother’s new boyfriend often has more access to a father’s child than the father himself. These boyfriends are statistically the most likely men to abuse a child. Some judges know this – others should!

Since it was published in the UK, the authors have received horrific stories of how innocent men and women in the United States have been abused and falsely accused of all manner of non-existent crimes.

These men are the true victims who are often powerless to defend themselves or their children. This book offers them practical help.

Glenn Sacks, the US father’s rights journalist wrote: "Venus discusses an important phenomenon of the modern era - the unscrupulous woman who uses the protection of the family and criminal law systems as a way to plunder men and gain revenge against them. We hear all the time about how men take advantage of women, but the opposite is at least as common. Venus does important work in bringing that side - the 'Dark Side' to light."
